Okay. As if I hadn't sent out enough this week, I thought I'd hit a couple more places.

Publishing Houses:

- Wendy Lamb Books
- Holiday House Inc.

And and an agent:

- Flannery Literary

If anything, the rejection letters I'm sure to get will fatten up my collection. Yeah!

A Sudden Surge

Hey friends. For some reason, I got the gumption to send out a whole mess of query letters. Here's who got 'em:

- Sheldon Fogelman Agency Inc.
- Gina Macoby Literary Agency
- Nancy Gallt
- Curtis Brown Ltd. (Marilyn E. Marlow)
- Steling Lord Literistic Inc.
- Charlotte Sheedy Literary Agency
- Harold Ober Associates Inc. (Claire M. Smith)
- Gotham Art & Literary Agency Inc. (Anne Elisabeth Suter)
- Kirchoff / Wohlberg Inc. (Liza Pulitzer Voges)
- Sheldon Fogelman Agency Inc. (Marcia Wernick)

These are the last of the people that a certain agent lady said I should send my info to. So far, none of the contacts she's provided have panned out, but who knows? These might get somewhere.

Also, today, I'm sending out a query to:

- Antheneum Books for Young Readers

And I sent an e-mail query to:

- Bollix Books

I also got a rejection letter yesterday (big surprise!) from Dijkstra Literary Agency. It went a little something like this:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Author,

We appreciated you recent letter of inquiry informing us of you project.

We regret to say that it does not appear to be right for our list. As you know, thse decisions are largely subjective and another agent or editor may have an opinion completely different from ours.

You may wish to consult one fo the several guides to literary agents, editors, and publishers in your search for a compatible agent. We recommend The Literary Marketplace and The Writer's Market.

Thank you for inviting us to read your work. We wish you great success!

Sincerely,

Agent Person

So great. At least I'm getting some sort of correspondence. Right? Sure...

So I Suck.

Not much in the news department, I'm afraid. I've sent out plenty of query letters and gotten plenty of rejection letters in return. So, what am I doing wrong?

Here are some ideas:

1. I'm not patient enough.
2. My query letter sucks.
3. I'm sending my work to the wrong places.

Not sure which category all of this falls under. I guess it's just one of those things where the RIGHT person will end up reading it and everything will begin to fall into place from there. Until then, I'll I can do is wait and hope and continue to work on stuff.

This month:
It's odd. When you've got a full schedule, all you do is wish you had more time to do the things that are really important to you. For me, during my firefighter class, all I thought about was how much I wanted to free up some time to write. Well, December 7th marked my state certification test and I've basically had the rest of the month free.

Have I done any writing? No.
Any editing? No.
Worked on my picture book idea? No, no, no.

I need to get back on the horse and quick-like. I've got the whole story basically mapped out in my head for Book 3, but I'm kind of kicking the sand a bit, not sure it's the right time to get going on it. Part of it is the impending training I've got coming up, but I know if I wait too long, I won't have another break in classes until Summer.

That's too damn long to wait, friends.

Okay, I'm rambling. How sad is it that I find the time to spit out some meandering thoughts on the internet, but I can't be bothered with getting back in the writing saddle?

Enough out of me. I'll post more when I know more.
